Title Asbestos Concerns Prompt Recall of More Than 121,000 Imported Children’s Squeeze Toys
Introduction EMSL Analytical offers product testing services to detect asbestos, chemicals, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, and other regulated substances to protect consumers and help prevent costly recalls.

Cinnaminson, New Jersey, September 28, 2026

A recent recall involving more than 121,000 children’s squeeze toys underscores the importance of product safety testing and supply chain quality control. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled toys may contain fibrous tremolite asbestos in their sand-filled interior, posing a risk of serious health effects if fibers become airborne and are inhaled. The imported toys were sold nationwide between February 2025 and April 2026.

The recalled products were manufactured in China and are soft, stretchable monkey-shaped squeeze toys filled with sand. They include a larger gold-colored version and smaller multicolored versions. Consumers are advised to stop using the toys immediately and follow the company’s instructions for obtaining a refund and safely handling the products.

Exposure to asbestos has been linked to serious respiratory illnesses and certain cancers. Although no injuries had been reported at the time of the recall announcement, the discovery of asbestos in a children’s product highlights the need for comprehensive testing programs that identify hazardous materials before products reach the marketplace.

EMSL Analytical, Inc. provides toy and consumer product testing services to help manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers identify potential hazards and meet regulatory requirements. EMSL’s laboratories offer asbestos testing, heavy metals analysis, chemical screening, product safety evaluations, and other services that support quality assurance and compliance efforts.

“Recalls involving hazardous materials can lead to significant financial losses, reputational damage, and potential health risks,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President of Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Independent testing and quality control measures are essential for identifying problems before products reach consumers.”

Through its network of laboratories and experienced scientific professionals, EMSL Analytical helps businesses reduce risk, protect consumers, and avoid costly recalls by verifying product safety throughout the supply chain.
